What is a Child Care Provider CRN?
A Child Care Provider CRN is a unique customer reference number assigned by the Department of Education to childcare providers and families when they register for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) scheme.
Every registered childcare centre, family day care provider, or in-home care service that participates in the Child Care Subsidy receives a unique Customer Reference Number (CRN) from the Department of Education. This identifier distinguishes the provider's account in the CCS system from any other organisation.
Families who use subsidised childcare also receive their own CRN when they register with the Australian Government. The parent or guardian CRN is separate from child CRNs. Each child in a family typically gets their own reference number linked to the parent CRN, allowing the system to track eligibility, subsidy allocation, and attendance records per child.
In Redland Bay and across Queensland, childcare providers use their CRN when submitting attendance information, processing invoices, and managing subsidy claims through the CCS portal.
